Atari Teenage Riot - Live At Brixton Academy 1999

Probably their hardest release, and the more experimental one. From the last concert of their tour (and last concert ever so far), this is pure hate and agression coming out of ATR's member's guts. Pure distortion, violence, white noise manipulation and distorted phat beats... Style? Noise/Noisecore, because without a doubt it has some gabber beat components which render it a mixture of both genres... the most brutal mixture you can ever imagine. The concept had existed before, but played live... there is something else! In the cover, this album is said to have divided the crowd... I, for sure, would be in the part of the crowd who loved it, altough I would also want to hear the "classics". ATR were always known to blend gabber/jungle and punk/trash metal, into what is called Digital Hardcore. Lately in their career, they added the noise component, which brought them closer to the harder side of electronics, and also to the harder side of Hardcore too. So, probably the fans of this CD are diverse, but all into very agressive music. As for quality, in my opinion, this beats the hell out of many Merzbow releases, specially for using so many different samples and noise construction elements, and gabber beats which add that "down to earth" spirit, rather than just ending up being a atmospheric noise release. Still, the album could have more play-time and also a more developed cover, with photos of the show and so on. Still, a must-have for Noisecore and Noise fans...
